Common questions

Everything you need to know

Do I need to register if I earn under £1,000?

If your self-employment income is under £1,000 in a tax year, you may be covered by the Trading Allowance and don't need to file a return. However, if you earn over £1,000 from self-employment — even part-time alongside a PAYE job — you must register for Self Assessment. We can assess your situation for free in your consultation call.

What can I claim as expenses?

It depends on your trade, but common allowable expenses include: vehicle costs (fuel, insurance, repairs), work clothing and equipment, phone and internet, professional subscriptions, and home office costs. Uber drivers can claim mileage at HMRC rates. Cleaners can claim supplies and travel. We maximise every legitimate expense to reduce your tax bill.

Do you speak Portuguese?

Yes — we are a team of Brazilians and all our consultations are available in Portuguese. We understand the specific challenges faced by Brazilian workers in the UK and can explain everything clearly without jargon, in the language you're most comfortable with.

How quickly can you file my return?

Once we have all your documents (bank statements, invoices, payslips), most straightforward Self Assessments are filed within 3–5 working days. During peak season (January), we ask clients to submit documents before 15 January to guarantee filing before the 31 January deadline.

What if I'm late or already missed a deadline?

Don't panic. Late filing penalties start at £100 and increase with time, but we can often negotiate with HMRC to reduce or cancel penalties if there's a reasonable excuse. The most important thing is to act now — the sooner you contact us, the better your outcome. Book your free call and we'll assess your situation immediately.

100% Accuracy Guaranteed

If we make an error in your filing, we refile for free and cover any resulting HMRC penalty. No questions asked. That's our promise to every client.
