Frequency

Frequency gave us three days in late August, forty-two acts across four stages, and the brief to come back with images that didn't look like festival photography. The challenge was getting close enough to feel the heat without losing the scale — shooting wide at 24mm in the press pit at midnight, then climbing to the sound tower for the long compressed views of the crowd. What surprised us was how much of the best material came from the in-between moments: the forty-minute wait in the wings, the production crew sharing a cigarette at second changeover, the first act on the new stage playing to eighty people with everything they had.
